Perfectly Loved by His Grace

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

—Psalm 43:1-3 (NLT)

“Listen, child, I created you and formed you with the gift of my righteousness. You’re mine. I gave my life for you. I redeemed you. Don’t be afraid. I’m not just a safe shelter. I’m your strength to stand and your victory to overcome. I’m the blood on the doorpost of your life that shields and heals you. You won’t be destroyed. You won’t be burned up. Nothing that comes against you has any power. I, Jesus Christ, am your Savior.”

“He was wounded and crushed because of our sins; by taking our punishment, he made us completely well” (Isaiah 53:5, CEV). Jesus was wounded for our sins and everything that sin delivers—sickness, pain, unforgiveness, bitterness, jealousy. The list is endless. His body was crushed with the punishment we deserved. He took our beating so that we could be forgiven and healed and delivered and free. This is perfect love.

“We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love” (1 John 4:16a, NLT). The question is not how much you love God but if you know how much He loves you. His love doesn’t depend on your love in return. To experience the healing depth of His Grace, you need to know not only that He saved you but who you are in Him. You’re forgiven because His love on the Cross forgave you. You’re healed because your wounds became His wounds. You’re delivered because He delivered you from destruction. You’re alive because He is alive in you. You conquer because He conquered sin and disease and the grave. Now that is a love where you can place your complete trust.

“Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love” (1 John 4:18, NLT). His perfect love defeats all fear. If you’re afraid, you fear punishment. God, who loved you enough to give His life for you, doesn’t punish you with evil. His love is perfect for you. There is no fear in Him. He is the Lord, your God—your Redeemer.

You said YES to His Grace. You are His. You’re safe forever in His love. When deep waters try to overcome you, you’re held high above the flood. When difficulty tries to bring you down, you’re at peace in who He is in you. When the fire of oppression attempts to burn you up, the flames won’t destroy you.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7, NKJV). There is no reason to fear when you’re perfectly loved by His Grace. You have the power to stand strong. You have His love that sets you free, and a sound mind that believes He is always faithful. He is your God, and He lives in you.
