The Seed of His Word

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness” (Romans 10:10, NKJV). It is your heart that believes by the faith of Jesus. And it is your heart that believes by faith in the incorruptible seed of the Word of God (1 Peter 1:23).

“Now the parable is this: The seed is the Word of God” (Luke 8:11, NKJV).

The seed in the parable of the sower is the Word of God. Jesus told this parable about a man who sowed seed on the ground. The seed found its way into different kinds of soil. Like the seed in the parable, the seed of God’s Word finds its way into different kinds of hearts. Some hearts aren’t ready to hear the Truth of His Word. Other hearts don’t allow that Truth to renew their minds, and that seed doesn’t put down good roots. Still, other hearts may be so weary of the troubles of life that they never grow into maturity. But then there are those whose hearts are hungry and ready to receive the Truth of God which can change their lives forever.

The incorruptible seed of God’s Word expresses the nature of God and His purpose for your life. When the seed of God’s Word discovers the soil of your heart, it produces according to its nature. And God’s nature is good. So God’s Word produces good and flourishes in your heart when the soil of your heart has been prepared to receive it. But if the soil of your heart hasn’t been prepared, the seed of God’s Word won’t take root and grow. It will be choked out and die before it even has a chance to make a lasting change in your life.

“He who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty” (Matthew 13:23, NKJV).

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). When you plant the supernatural seed of God’s Word in a heart that is hungry to believe and the Word is “heard,” it takes root, and faith springs up. Let the Word of God be continuously sown into your heart. You will overflow with the very goodness of God, and His Spirit within you will produce good fruit and supernatural results.

“My son, give attention to my words,” says the Lord. “Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh” (Proverbs 4:20-22, NKJV).

God’s Word is truth. It is Spirit, and it is life (John 6:63). He sent His Word to prosper in you—to produce life, forgiveness, healing, joy, and peace (3 John 2). Plant the seed of His Word in your heart. When it takes root and grows, you more than just know it. You believe it! His Word is your life, your identity, and your purpose!
