To Everything

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace” Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, KJV).

Whatever season of your life you are in, there is a purpose in it. Sometimes when you are going through a time that is hard, it becomes difficult to see yourself in a better season of life. Each of us need to seek His purpose in whatever time we experience rather than try to rush hurriedly through to the next one. When we push this way, we miss what the Lord wishes to accomplish in us. Each season the Lord imparts is given for His reason. The incredible value of the lessons learned from each time can give us greater faith to make it through all the difficult seasons of life. They can also give the greatest fulfillment in the seasons that bring joy.

I have been in a time of mourning over the loss of my mother for almost two years. It has been a long process. For some reason during the last two weeks, grief has hit very hard. I didn't understand why this intense grief had come over me so powerfully. I thought is was because it is Christmas, and that was one of Mama's favorite times of the year. This past Sunday when it was overwhelming my heart, I suddenly moved from a time of weeping and mourning to a time of laughter and joy. When I thought the pain was becoming too much to bear, God moved me to a new time of light-heartedness and happiness. He opened a door to the next season that only He could open. With His powerful Hand and in His perfect way He encouraged me that it was time to move on. I know without a doubt that my season of mourning has passed. Where I go next is His choice and for His purpose.

Whatever your season or time, learn from it. Rejoice in the lesson to be learned. Apply it to your life. Allow God to take you where He wishes, and allow Him to mold your heart. The pain you may feel now will definitely be part of your joy later. Also the joy you may feel now will carry you through any difficult season that lies ahead. Wherever you are, He is with you, guiding you from one season to the next. Give Him your hand, and trust the one who gave you this life to carry you safely and joyfully through it.
