Open the Eyes of My Heart

For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes—so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them. But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn’t see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn’t hear it.

—Matthew 13:15-17 (NLT)

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord, to see your Truth, and open my ears to hear it. You are the Word, oh God! Thank you, Jesus, for bringing life to me! Lord, you place your Word within my spirit—your living Word that gives life and healing—and you long for it to take root and transform my understanding. What my natural mind perceives isn’t real. What your Word reveals is spiritual, and it is Truth. Change my mind to perceive what my eyes can’t see or my ears can’t hear. I want your mind—to see you and hear only you. I don’t want a feeling that is here today and gone tomorrow. I yearn for your Truth that heals and gives life.

Your Word tells me that the gift of your life not only saved me but healed me. Jesus, you prayed for your disciples to be made holy and changed by the Truth of your Word. You pray the same for us, too. Your Truth changes me and opens my eyes and ears to believe that you have already healed me. Sin is the author of sickness. You wouldn’t have saved us from sin and left us to remain in the sickness caused by it. Your Word says that by the wounds you took for me, Jesus, I’m healed. I’m whole. Years ago, I turned from who I was and believed you saved me, Jesus. Now I believe that you healed me, too.

Lord, I choose to receive what you have given me. I pay attention to what you say and listen carefully to your Words—allowing them to penetrate my heart. You bring life to those who find them and healing to their whole body. You sent your Word and healed me! I want your life to continually transform mine! You bless me, Lord! I open my eyes to see and my ears to understand what others long to understand. You ripped my hardened heart of stone from me and gave me a new heart and your Spirit. Mold me, Jesus. My heart is yours—hungrily beating for your living Truth.

Heal me, Lord, and I am healed.  Save me, Lord, and I am saved. I receive your living Truth into my mind and body. Old things are gone!  I am newly sanctified in spirit, mind, and body. You call me, and you are faithful. I’m healed! I’m whole! You are my praise, oh Lord!
