His Work His Words

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

—Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)

It is easy to let our feelings direct our lives instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us. Feeling good about something He leads us to do is not always the case. Feeling comfortable and accepted is not always the case. The enemy doesn’t like it when you are following God’s plan for your life. He attacks with uncertainty and doubt. He tries to stir up fear and tells you that you are out of God’s will. The enemy uses anything—from other people to circumstances—to make you lose heart and give up in defeat. Where the Holy Spirit leads you, He is with you. He empowers you through times when even those closest to you may not understand. Don’t believe when you follow God’s heart that it is always going to be easy.

Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

—Hebrews 10:35-36 (NKJV)

Without confidence, it is hard to endure. To have confidence, you trust that God who has called you is faithful to do the work. When you doubt, you have made the work yours. It is not your work. It is His work. It is not your responsibility. It is His responsibility. Your responsibility is to allow Him to work through you. Your confidence is where the enemy attacks. You stand and fight the good fight of faith. Don’t lose your confidence. Persevere, and don’t give up. When you persevere in following God’s heart, you receive the promise.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

—John 6:63 (NKJV)

Your fleshly worry and concern and doubt and fear profits you nothing. Only the Holy Spirit gives life. The words that He speaks to you are His words. They are not your words. His words are spirit, and they are life.

His work and His words

Your words were found, and I ate them,

And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart;

For I am called by Your name,

O Lord God of hosts.

—Jeremiah 15:16 (NKJV)
