Life to All Who Find It

 

 

My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings.
Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart;
For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their flesh.
Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.

—Provers 4:20-23

 

 

It is hard when you are hanging on by a thread. It is such a relief to finally let go and trust God’s Word. His Word is His truth for you. It is His will. Don’t dilute it because you don’t see any physical evidence of His promise revealed in His Word. Faith is the substance of what you hope for. It is the evidence of what you can’t see (Hebrews 11:1).

 

God’s Word is true. But it is not true in your life until it becomes your Word. Don’t allow questioning God’s truth to get in the way of what the Word says is true for you. That isn’t faith. That is doubt that keeps you from receiving the promises of God’s Word (James 1:7-8). His Word is truth. It is His life yearning to live in you. 

 

If you want the promise God has given you to be true in your life, listen to His Word, and pay attention to what He says. Quiet the other voices. Quiet your doubt. Choose to trust that God—who is the Word—is faithful and trustworthy to accomplish His truth in your life.

 

Your heart is where you believe. Faith comes from spiritually hearing God’s Word in your heart (Romans 10:17). God’s Word is for you. It is not against you. Let God’s Word receive your full attention. Renew your mind continually with its truth. Exercise the measure of faith God has given you, and choose to believe His Word. Don’t allow thoughts contrary to its truth. Keep His Word in the midst of your heart. Guard it with all diligence because out of your heart spring the issues of your life. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). 

 

“It is the Spirit who gives life; your flesh profits nothing,” Jesus said. “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you who do not believe” (John 6:63-64).

 

When the Holy Spirit reveals the truth of God’s Word in your heart, hang on to what He has promised you. Let go of doubt and believe. His Word is spirit. It is life and health to all who find it.
