Precious Cornerstone

Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken.
—Isaiah 28:16b (NLT)

Jesus is my precious cornerstone—a prized and unshakeable foundation. There in Jerusalem, upon Mount Moriah where Abraham did not have to sacrifice his son, God sacrificed His for me. Upon Golgotha, Jesus accomplished His Father’s will. What He offered is timeless. It is priceless. It cost His life. And there, while the host of heaven waited breathlessly for the moment, Jesus finally died splitting the veil of the temple and opening the way into the very presence of God.

Upon this rock, He builds my faith. Valued above all else, He is the reason for all I believe—everything that I am. He was tested and broken at Calvary, and there He was victorious for me. He is the only sure foundation in which I trust—the only safe harbor in which I find refuge. The gift of His precious life seeks my response even though there is nothing He asks of me. His love gave without regard. Without hesitation, He died to rescue me. The love of Jesus is the only love that could take my sinful life and in return give me His righteous one. It is the only love ever forged in death and resurrected in new life.

Where death once ruled, His new life now conquers! His new life now replaces the old in me! His grace sets me free! Nothing else is truth, but Jesus crucified and resurrected. His grace at the Cross changed everything. Nothing else is worthy of building my life upon—only Him. God placed Jesus, His foundation stone, in Jerusalem to give His life for me. And now I have precious faith that is forged and resurrected. I believe.
