His Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given him. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
— James 1:5-6 (NIV)

Do you yearn for wisdom to handle issues in your life? Wisdom which promises peace? Wisdom which faith has imparted? Do you feel overwhelmed by hard circumstances and feel at a loss? There is nothing for you to do but trust God. He waits for you to ask for His wisdom—for His advice. With His wisdom comes His power.

James not only instructs you to pray for wisdom, but he tells you to pray to believe you will receive it. If you pray for wisdom and still struggle with no peace, perhaps you have a problem that James identifies as being “double-minded.” He writes that such a person is unstable in everything he does. God grants wisdom to a person who single-mindedly trusts God to take care of his life. This person has the clarity of mind to understand that without God’s wisdom, he will fail. He knows that without God’s wisdom he will be like a boat tossed on the sea with no anchor. When this single-minded person trusts and asks for God’s wisdom, he receives it generously.

You probably have a mountain in your life. It is not your place to move your mountain! It is His. Focus on God's truth instead of your mountain. When you were born-again, you received everything you needed to live a victorious life. Your mind is where you believe what you have received. You have the free will to trust God or not to trust Him. Choose to trust God. Ask God to reveal the truth of what you received when He saved you and what He will accomplish when you believe Him. If you give all your energy to analyzing your problem instead of trusting the Lord, you will be double-minded.

"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast," the Word instructs, "because they trust in you" (Isaiah 26:3, NIV). Your problem is never the issue. Trusting God is.

"Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes." Paul writes. "Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy" (Ephesians 4:23-24, NLT). When you daily decide to put on the new righteous nature that Jesus died to give you, the Holy Spirit renews your thoughts. He changes your perspective from half-empty to half-full—from doubt to trust. When you allow Him to change the way you think, you grow to understand the revelation of His wisdom in His Word! He never finds fault as you grow in the power of the Holy Spirit to handle EVERYTHING that comes your way.

With God’s wisdom, comes PEACE.  No more tossing around with doubt or fear! Jesus is in control—and you KNOW it! You BELIEVE it!
