KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST

There are software programs that protect you from online attacks that threaten your identity, your files, your system, and your financial well-being. They stop threats that can’t be seen.

There is also something that protects your life from unseen threats and attempts of the enemy to blindside you. Satan knows that when you don’t know the power of your identity in Jesus, you are an easy target. When you haven’t taken complete ownership of what Jesus has purchased for you, Satan knows his power is greater against you. The only thing that protects your identity in Christ from the enemy’s lies is knowledge of who you are in Christ. The truth of your identity will set you free (John 8:32).

Your heart is what Satan attempts to wound, and he gets there through your mind. The peace of God guards your heart and mind when you place your faith in Jesus. (Philippians 4:7). When you tell God what you need and thank him for all He has done, you receive His incredible peace—which surpasses anything your natural mind understands. (Philippians 4:6). You understand and receive this peace with the mind of Christ that became yours when you were born-again.

“Who can know the Lord’s thoughts?” Paul writes. “Who knows enough to teach him? But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16).

When you learn your identity in Christ, you are renewed in your mind by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:23). You receive spiritual knowledge of all of the new things you are in Christ. And Paul says you understand these things because you have the mind of Christ. When you know who you are in Him, you are safe.

“Guard your heart above all else,” the psalmist writes, “for it determines the course of your life” (Proverbs 4:23, NLT).

Since it is your heart that determines the course of your life, wounding your heart is the enemy’s objective. You guard your heart by knowing the truth of all the things that you have in Christ. By believing these things, you are free to walk by faith and not by sight—to have confident trust in God’s promise of abundant life now.

“For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins” (Colossians 3:13-14, NLT).

You can walk in the forgiveness and freedom of God’s abundant life. He has rescued you from the power of darkness and transferred you into the Kingdom of His dear Son.

Are you tired of the bombardment of lies and fear? You are no longer an easy target when you know your identity in Christ. Safeguard your identity. Learn what the Word says about you. The book of Ephesians is a great place to begin. Soak in His truth. KNOW the new person Jesus has made you. Your identity in Christ changes everything. You will see differently, hear differently, and understand God’s truth that sets you free.
