How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.
—Psalm 139:17-18 (NKJV)
Throughout the night, you have calmed my mind and rested my heart with blessed sleep. As consciousness returns, I hear your gentle whisper drawing me to wake up. Your Word rises from within my heart, encouraging and uplifting me. But, without warning, the concern I gave to you last night tries to claim my first waking moments. And a feeling of uncertainty descends. But you, my overcoming strength, are not just with me. You are within me. That concern has no power because it tries to come against you—not me.
How wonderful that your thoughts for me are as numerous and uncountable as grains of sand! How incredible that you have already taken care of every problem in my life! Your love is mine, and I know it! Your Resurrection power is within me—not without. My thoughts settle as my mind focuses on your goodness and your grace. Instead of the concern that I surrendered to you last night, you remind me of your faithfulness throughout all my days and nights. You rise within me overwhelming any uncertainty.
There is only you. No thought that tears my heart. No worry of what might come. No circumstance to fix. No purpose to fulfill. Nothing but your heart beating in me. Nothing but you praying from within me. All is at rest. All is perfect. We are one—you in me and I in you. I possess your unfailing and endless love. Your peace anchors my heart. Your strength claims me. You are the promise of all I have ever desired. You are Christ in me, my hope of glory.
