The Seed of God's Word

Nothing that happens has the power to overcome you when you believe that God is the strength of your heart and that you belong to Him forever (Psalm 73:26). You can be renewed in your mind by God’s Truth, but if the incorruptible seed of that Truth isn’t planted in the fertile ground of your heart, you won’t believe what it tells you.

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness” (Romans 10:10, NKJV). It is your heart that believes by faith in Jesus. And it is your heart that believes by faith in the incorruptible seed of the Word of God.

Your mind is where you know something, but your heart is where you believe it. And you are born “not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever” (1 Peter 1:23, NKJV). The facts in this world are always changing. The Word of God is unchanging, and its Truth lives forever. When you plant the incorruptible seed of God’s Truth in your heart, it produces good and lasting fruit that will not die.

“Now the parable is this: The seed is the Word of God” (Luke 8:11, NKJV).

The seed in the parable of the sower is the Word of God. Jesus told this parable about a man who sowed seed on the ground. The seed found its way into different kinds of soil. Like the seed in the parable, the seed of God’s Word finds its way into different kinds of hearts. Some hearts are not ready to hear the Truth of His Word. Other hearts do not allow that Truth to renew their minds, and that seed doesn’t put down good roots. Still, other hearts may be so weary with the troubles of life that they never grow into maturity. But then there are those whose hearts are hungry and ready to receive the Truth of God which can change their lives forever.

The incorruptible seed of God’s Word expresses the nature of God and His purpose for your life. When the seed of God’s Word discovers the soil of your heart, it produces according to its nature. And God’s nature is good. So God’s Word produces good and flourishes in your heart when its soil has been prepared to receive it. But if the soil of your heart has not been prepared, the seed of God’s Word will not take root and grow. It will be choked out and die before it even has a chance to make a lasting change in your life.

“He who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty” (Matthew 13:23, NKJV).

When you plant the seed of God’s Word in a heart that hungers to believe and that Word is “heard,” it takes root, and faith springs up. It produces and produces and produces!

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11), NKJV).

In these verses in Isaiah 55, the Word of God is compared to both rain and seed. The rain is the Word that comes down from heaven and gives seed to the sower. When that seed of the Word is continually “watered” by the Word, it grows and produces Truth in the heart that is fertile. A seed reproduces its own kind. The seed of the Word reproduces out of the nature of its source. It is the seed of God’s eternal goodness—His total restoration of spirit, soul, and body—His overflowing abundance—His healing Grace. These embody the nature of your God who breathed life into His Word so you can believe and receive His promises.  God’s Word speaks an abundant life filled with incredible potential. Prospering beyond what the natural mind can understand, the seed of the Word thrives and brings forth the very nature of the goodness of God in the heart that believes.

Do you have a heart hungry to receive the Word? Do you desire His Truth above all else?  Life happens, but God is the strength of your heart and your God forever. To know it in your mind is not the same as believing it in your heart. Are you ready to believe?

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).  Let the Word of God be continuously sown into your heart. It will produce what God sent it to produce—His whole healing of your spirit, your soul, and your body.

“My son, give attention to my WORDS,” says the Lord. “Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh” (Proverbs 4:20-22, NKJV).

God sends His Word to prosper in you—to produce forgiveness and healing and joy and peace! Plant the seed of His Word in your heart. When it takes root and grows, you more than just know it. You believe it! And His Word becomes life and health to you!
