A Battle Already Won

How often do we unknowingly leave ourselves unprotected and give the enemy an opening to slip in and cause devastation? Just as we protect our homes from intruders, we must protect our lives and account for what we allow inside. The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10). His purpose is to destroy the power of the Gospel to change and transform us from the inside out. If he can keep us focused on the outside issues, he can inhibit the Holy Spirit’s power to work inside us. The enemy comes to steal our peace and joy by keeping us focused on ourselves. He attacks our souls and bodies with sin and sickness to destroy the abundant life Jesus has given us.

We must guard ourselves against any kind of theft Satan attempts. He is relentless. He doesn’t give up. He may appear more powerful than God but is a defeated foe. Satan has no power against Jesus Christ, the Word God sent to heal and deliver us (Psalms 107:20)—except the power we allow him to have.

Just as easy access does not give a robber legal right to your home, easy access doesn’t give the enemy legal right to you. Your salvation gives Jesus the legal right to you. Just because the enemy finds an opening—whether through sin, doubt, fear, sickness, or disaster—doesn’t mean he has the authority to steal your health, peace, or blessings. Through Jesus Christ and the power of the Word of God, you can close any opening Satan has found. You can avoid needless battles that might result from your actions. Even if you have failed and opened the door to the enemy’s lies, it doesn’t take away the victory available to you in Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:57 promises, “But thanks be to God, which gives us the victory through Jesus Christ.”

We have victory—not because of anything we have done but because of what Jesus has already accomplished on our behalf. Consider a fighter who has won a prize and immediately gives it to his wife. She didn’t earn his victory, but he shared his reward with her. God’s Word tells us we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37) because we get to share in the rewards of Christ’s success over sin and death. We never fight alone because Jesus shared His victory with us! We already have the victory because Jesus has the victory!

The next time you are struggling with your health, finances, or relationships, never forget the enemy has no legal claim to what is yours in Jesus Christ. Stand firm and declare God’s promises in Jesus’ name! The enemy who comes to steal, kill, and destroy has no legal right to enter the temple of your life! Jesus’ abundant win is your win. Through His complete triumphant victory, your battle has already been won.

As Paul neared the end of his life, he could say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).  I pray that I will. I pray that I always “see” the victory Jesus has given me and “hear” the Word of faith in my heart to “know” deep down inside that I have already overcome in Jesus Christ.

Help me, Jesus, to always look beyond my limitations into the spiritual realm of your best. You are my abundance. I refuse the enemy the right to take the health, the resources, or the blessings you have given me. Help me to fight well. I fight a battle already won.
