When faced with a decision that you need to make, God has he answer. But sometimes you just are not absolutely clear what that decision should be. Sometimes you have to make a decision based on faith that He steers you in the right direction. I discovered a Scripture verse years ago that has helped time and time again. It has brought peace when I knew that I must make a decision. It has brought peace when I wasn't sure of that decision, but I knew that I had to make a choice.
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” (Proverbs 16:3, NIV). First, my heart must be right before the Lord. If I am seeking His will in a matter, then I must have nothing blocking my relationship with Him. If I love Him... if I am surrendered to His Lordship.....if my greatest desire is to follow His will, then I am committed to Him and my decision will be the right one. The NLT version of this verse says it will succeed. He will establish my plan. He will make my choice succeed. He honors my decision when I honor Him. But this is true only if my heart is right. That is where the right decision begins....in a pure and sacrificed heart.
