Not Abandoned

“I know what I’m doing,” says the Lord, “I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen. When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed. I’ll turn things around for you. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you, and bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it” (Jeremiah 29:11-14, MSG).

Sometimes I forget that God knows what He is doing. It is in these moments when I try to be in control, I discover only discouragement and failure. But not only that. As I try to handle things without His guidance and strength, fear takes root. Fear not only separates me from His peace, but also from His voice trying to encourage my heart. He knows what He is doing. I don't have to know His plans, but I do need to trust and have faith in His love for me.

How can I not trust the very one who gave His life for me?  When I seek Him with all my heart and desire Him more than anything else, I discover more faith to believe in His love for me. If I persevere to do His will each day, I receive His promise. He lifts me from the place where I have suffered and felt abandoned. No longer in exile with over-whelming and consuming emotions, God turns things around for me. I am at home in His love. I trust Him for what happens now and for what lies ahead. It is His promise to me.
