His Timing

Be still in the presence of the Lord,

and wait patiently for him to act.

—Psalm 37:7a (NLT)

Why is there a picture of a springing tiger, and I'm writing about waiting for the Lord to act?  Keep reading if you want to know.

Quit doing and rushing and pushing to make something happen. Be still—not waiting impatiently or desperately for a sign from God, but waiting in absolute confidence that God will act. In His presence, there is no struggle to be patient. Peace in His presence wipes away any thought that you have anything to do. You abundantly receive His love.

“Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31, NKJV).

What do you find waiting in His presence? Your strength renews. You can rise above anything that concerns you. Circumstances don't control you because you realize that God fixes what you can't. As you soar in God’s strength, you believe He will act. You move in His Spirit and never grow weary. Trusting Him, you walk by faith and don’t grow faint with discouragement. When you remain still in His presence, confident faith rises to appropriate your promise. You believe and have no doubt. You can speak to your mountain, knowing that God will act (Mark 11:23-24).

"Take delight in the Lord," David writes, "and he will give you your heart's desires" (Psalm 37:4, NLT). When you delight in God, you spend time in His presence, receiving what your heart desires. Jesus gave you the overflowing bounty of God at Calvary. He saved you—healed you—and entirely provided for your every need. Take delight in Him! His grace covers you.

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised” (Hebrews 10:23, 35-36, NLT).

Does waiting for God to act and telling your mountain to move have anything in common? Oh yes! Perfect timing in the grace of God is what they have in common. The Holy Spirit directs you when the time is right for the mountain to move in your life. Speaking too early will bring discouragement. Waiting until the time is right makes all the difference. The verb “wait” in Isaiah 40:31 means you wait with intention. You wait as if you are a tiger ready for its prey to come into sight. Your muscles are coiled tightly, equipped to spring into action when the time is right. You are prepared to speak to your mountain when God has brought all the elements into play. The Holy Spirit guides you. Your faith, leaping to take hold of its promise, activates what God has already accomplished in the spiritual.

Hold tightly without wavering—without doubting—to what you believe. God is faithful to keep His promises. Be confident in the Lord and His mighty power! Your confidence grows when your relationship with Him strengthens. Your relationship is strengthened and empowered by the Word in His presence.

God’s timing is perfect. You believe and speak, and He acts. God is faithful.
