"The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do
it" (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
Why do I sometimes believe I am incapable of doing
the task God has called me to do? If He has called me to step out in faith, He
expects me to reach further than my own strength. He empowers what He has
instructed. Yes, it is more than I am capable of. It should be, or I would not
need His guidance and His strength. I would try to accomplish the work on my
own, and it would have little impact. I need to reach beyond my limited
capability to discover His, or the work I do in His name has little ability to
accomplish His purpose. What might seem overwhelming in its intensity, is
nothing to Him. When He summons me to a specific task, I know that He has looked
beyond my limitations, and seen His potential in my life.
I think I know me. I have little knowledge of who I
really am. He sees my capability and my potential. He is faithful to provide all
of Himself for the little that I have. He will do the work. That is His promise
when I surrender my control, and let Him develop me. His calling is not just for
His work in the world. It is for His work in
me.
