He Knows What He's Doing

"I know what I’m doing,” says the Lord, “I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen. When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed. I’ll turn things around for you. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you, and bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it” (Jeremiah 29:11-14, MSG).

Sometimes I forget that God knows what He is doing. It is in these moments when I try to take control, I discover only discouragement and failure. But it is not only that. As I try to handle what only He can handle, fear takes root. Fear separates me from His peace and wrecks havoc on my faith. When fear destroys my faith, I have allowed it to become more important in my life than God's love for me. Instead of seeking His presence, I allow fear to run rampant. God knows what He is doing. If I believe that, I don't have to know His plans. I just need to trust and have faith in His love for me.

In the moment I finally reach out to Him, He is right there. He has been just waiting for my plea for help. When I get serious about Him and desire Him more than anything else, I shall discover His abiding presence and have more faith to believe in His Word and its promises. If I persevere to do His will each day, I will receive His promise (Hebrews 10:35-36). As I surrender every part of my life to Him, He will turn things around for me. He will bring me out of the place where I have been wrecked by fear––the place where I have suffered and felt so abandoned. When I let go of my control, He will catch me and hold me securely in His grasp. I can trust Him for it. It is His promise to me.
