You Try, Lord

Lord, forgive me, for times I try to protect and end up controlling.

Lord, forgive me, for times I try to share and I don't share your heart.

Lord, forgive me, for times I try to love and my love is not your love.

Lord, forgive me, for times I try to live for you, and I fall short.

Lord, forgive me, for times I try to make things right and only you can.

Lord, forgive me, for times I try to be yours, and turn away.

Lord, forgive me, for times I try to change only to repeat my offense.

I try, Lord. And that is my problem. I try in my own strength.

I don't try on my own today, Lord. I ask you to do this work in me.

I surrender all of me to all of you.

In my surrender to your will bring ALL your power to bear.

I try again today, Lord, but I try in you alone.

When I try in you alone, then it is no longer me. It is you.

What now is tried is no longer mine.

It is yours, Lord, and becomes your promise of all that I can be.

“My grace is sufficient for you,” He whispers, “for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
