We live in a world that fosters fear. Jesus said that He has peace to give us that the world cannot give. His peace is not one based on circumstance but on the truth of His Word. “I send it out,” God speaks of His Word, “and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it" (Isaiah 55:11, NLT). His Word says that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of His power, love, and a sound mind.
Circumstances can cause terrible fear. Fear of what is happening—fear of what might happen can wreak havoc in your mind. The situation right now in so many communities is the coronavirus. Cases are growing, and hospitals are overflowing. People are dying. People are afraid. A concern that tells you to be careful is not fear. But the enemy can take your concern and blow it into overwhelming fear. He can stress you to the point of illness and take away your ability to reason. God has not given you this spirit of fear. He has given you His power to overcome it. You have His love. You have His sound mind. That is what the Word says.
“My child, pay attention to what I say,” God declares. “Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body” (Proverbs 4:20-22, NLT).
Listen to Him. Don’t lose sight of what He tells you. Let His Words penetrate deeply into your mind and heart. Find them! They bring life and healing to you!
“Life and death is in the power of the tongue" (Proverbs 18:21, NKJV). The tongue is small but mighty. It has the power to encourage or tear down—to speak like or death. You can speak death to the lies of the enemy! You can speak life to yourself. Jesus has given you that ability.
“These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe,” Jesus said. “They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages. They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed” (Mark 16:17-18, NLT).
Do we believe it? Do we speak death to the spirit of fear? We certainly don't handle snakes intentionally and drink poison. But we have God's power within us that can. Do we believe that we can lay hands on the sick, and God can heal them? Do we believe that Jesus can heal us of fear and sickness? Let His Words sink in deeply. He brings healing to the whole body. God's power gives us the ability to speak life—to others and ourselves.
Life and death are in the words that we speak. Vocally speak death to your fear and life to your mind and body. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don't over-figure what might happen or is happening around you. You have God's Word.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11, NLT).
